One of the most notable hats in Europe and North America is the Fedora. During the 20^th century men were not considered dressed for work without a hat and the hat that those men chose over and over again was the Fedora.

The name "Fedora" comes from the heroine of the French playwright Victorien Sardou's drama that was presented in Paris in 1882. It was Fedora that wore the hat style in the play that would become the hallmark to practically all of movie tough guys, gangsters and usually everyone who had on a suit.

Theses were the hats to own all the way from the 20’s to the 70’s when the hat seemed to die out.Chances are that your grandfather wore one of these if he lived in these places.

Indiana Jones made the Fedora even more famous since the movie was seen by millions leading to people to start collecting some vintage Fedora hats. It made it an icon. The movies current influence on the hat buying public is nothing short of phenomenal. The style that Jones wore was a safari styled fedora. 

Today more and more people are collecting these Fedora hats. Some because they received a few of these hats from their grandfathers and wanted to expand their collection and others just thinking that the style of the hats are great to own.
